PM Modi Introduces Farmers to Urea Gold: 5 advantages of Sulfur-coated fertiliser

Urea Gold: On Thursday, in the city of Sikar, Rajasthan, Prime Minister Narendra Modi made a number of announcements that focused on helping farmers. 1.25 million PM Kisan Samriddhi Kendras (PMKSK), which are one-stop centres for farmers and will offer information on agri-inputs like fertilisers, seeds, and implements, have been set aside by PM Modi; testing facilities for soil, seeds, and fertilisers; and information regarding various government schemes. Along with the introduction of Urea Gold, he distributed the amount of the 14th installment that was due under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) programme through direct benefits transfer.

What is Urea Gold?

Urea Gold is a new type of urea fertiliser that has a sulphur coating applied to it. According to the announcement made by the government, urea gold features the following advantages:

1) Sulphur deficits in the soil can be remedied by replacing traditional urea fertiliser with urea gold as the fertiliser of choice.

2) The use of urea gold as a fertiliser is both more cost-effective and effective than the use of urea that has been coated with neem.

3) It makes plants more efficient in using nitrogen in their tissues.

4) Utilising urea gold can cut down on the amount of fertiliser used while simultaneously improving crop quality.

5) It will reduce the amount of money that farmers have to spend on their inputs while simultaneously increasing their profits as a result of increased production and productivity.

The Prime Minister of India made several pro-farmer announcements while he was in Sikar.
In reference to decisions made by the government that are favourable to farmers, Prime Minister Modi stated, "Our government will not allow farmers to suffer due to the price of urea." He went on to say that while farmers in India can purchase a sack of urea for 266 rupees, the same quantity can be purchased for approximately 800 rupees in Pakistan, for 720 rupees in Bangladesh, and for 2,100 rupees in China.

A total of 1,500 Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs) were brought onto the Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC) by the Prime Minister while the scheme was in progress.

According to the official release, the ONDC network will provide nonprofit organisations with direct access to digital marketing, online payment, business-to-business (B2B) and business-to-consumer (B2C) transactions, and it will also support local value addition.
