Bale chamber - thick, well-formed bales.
The lengthy bale chamber ensures homogeneous, very compact, sharp-edged bales. Angular rails have deep grooves in the bales for guiding the binding string and preventing sideways slippage, maintaining the structure and composition of bales when forcefully handled by the bale ejector or other conveying equipment.
The bale length is infinitely changeable in a wide range from 0.40 to 1.10 metres. Two crank handles at the end of the bale chamber can set the composition and density of the bales as necessary.
Knotters — tie knots.
MARKANT balers are equipped with proven CLAAS knotters. CLAAS knotters are world-famous for making indestructible knots at the highest bale density in any harvesting conditions imaginable. The knotter hook keeps the knot strap in position during the binding operation, irrespective of bale pressure or string strength. Therefore, the knotter setting does not need to be changed when changing the bale pressure or the type of binding twine (sisal, synthetic) utilised. The MARKANT can handle sisal string with running lengths of 150 to 200 m/kg, and synthetic twines with running lengths of 300 to 400 m/kg.
CLAAS also produces a unique version of the MARKANT with specially adapted knotters for processing baling wire. Baling wire maintains the strength of the bindings when bales are moved long distances or stored for long periods of time. It is resistant to UV light and animal damage.
The integrated bale counter allows the operator to know how many bales have been made at any time.
Pick-up - clean cut.
The dual-spring tines are close together with slanted points and the perfect pick-up diameter to get the crop from the field to the machine neatly and effectively. From long-stemmed crops to short fluffy stuff, they’re harvested with a razor-sharp accuracy. A crop guard fitted above the pick-up channels the crop quickly to the feeders for a smooth crop flow to the bale chamber. The machine glides lightly over the ground with spring suspension. An incorporated shock absorber stops high velocity bouncing.
Feed system: heavy duty feedders.
Two feeders, driven by two crankshafts, take the harvested crop from the pick-up assembly and forcefully and efficiently carry it well down into the bale chamber. This system guarantees a high output of homogeneous, high density, sharp edged bales. Integrated shock absorbers absorb shocks.
Each individual feeder tine is secured by a shear bolt to ensure that the feed rake works well all the time.
Drive system — Heavy-duty gearbox.
The main drive of the MARKANT has a hypoid gear set. The crown wheel and bevel wheel interlock spirally. This allows a greater number of teeth to engage at any one moment than in straight cut bevel gears. This increases the overall reliability of power transmission.
Just in front of the gearbox assembly is a big flywheel that cushions the strokes of the baling ram to provide smooth mechanical operation. The flywheel slip clutch protects the MARKANT drive and packing system from overloading.
The freewheel capacity in the drive shaft prevents damage to the gearbox of the tractor resulting from deactivation of the PTO. The MARKANT is completely self-supporting.
Strong baling ram.
The MARKANT's baling ram is strong and forceful and runs on rollers fitted with maintenance-free ball bearings. The scrapers immediately before the rollers provide a clean crop feed for smooth functioning.
