Agriculture and dairy sector of Bastar will get a boost and more employment opportunities will be generated for women.
Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah said now efforts will be made to give forest output and agricultural income directly to tribal groups in Bastar. He stated agriculture, dairy and cooperative based models will be pushed in coming years to enhance the economy of Bastar. As part of the initiative, plans are afoot to integrate the tribal households, particularly women, to the dairy business by providing them with cows and buffaloes.

Amit Shah said the Naxalite scourge had kept the Bastar area away from the mainstream of development for long. Addressing a press conference in Jagdalpur, Many settlements lacked basic utilities including electricity, drinking water, education and health care. Besides, many families were deprived of benefits of government schemes like ration cards, free food grains, health insurance. The government wants the Naxalite-affected districts to be completely integrated into the pipeline of development for better living and employment possibilities. 

Strengthen Cooperative and Dairy Networks as a Priority

The government will concentrate on developing the cooperatives at local level and dairy network in Bastar, he said. For this objective, PACS (Primary Agricultural Credit Society) and local dairy systems will be developed to facilitate rural women in carrying the milk of their animals to dairy centres. The cooperative model will be applied to organise milk procurement and sale, thereby enhancing the regular income of the rural people. "Animal husbandry, along with agriculture, will be made a major source of employment to strengthen the economic condition of villages," Shah stated. 

Linking skill-building projects to kids

The Home Minister stated the administration is focusing on a multi-pronged approach to employment, not only government jobs. This will entail connecting children with skills development programmes that will open up opportunities for self-employment and employment in the private sector. The focus will be on linking farmers and women to economic activity through cooperatives. “The plan is at a preliminary stage. “After the first phase, a detailed roadmap is to be developed,” he stated. 

Bastar will be fully developed by 2031

Amit Shah stated the administration wants to make India Naxal-free and also develop Bastar by 2031. “Once Bastar is fully developed, the world will see how Naxalism has been holding back the development of the region for years,” he said. He hoped that Bastar will emerge as one of the developing regions of the country in the future days. 

Benefits of 371 plans in one place

The Home Minister also said that 70 of the almost 200 security camps in Bastar will be turned into “Veer Shaheed Gundadhur Seva Dera” in this time. These service centres would offer the benefits of the 371 central and state government schemes at one spot to the residents. He added: "Very soon villages will have access to services such as electricity, water, education, health and employment from these centres."

Campaigns for National Recognition of Tribal Society 

Amit Shah also spoke about the government is intentions to support tribal culture and traditions. He claimed that efforts are being made to give national attention to the tribal community is folk art, language, costumes, food and handicrafts through festivals like "Bastar Pandum", inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Also, millions of sportsmen and women engaged in sporting contests, such as the 'Bastar Olympics' which also included former Naxalites who had accepted rehabilitation. "Only development, education, employment and cultural identity can give Bastar a new direction and the government is moving forward with this goal," he said.
