Natural Farming: Many people in the country want to grow crops without using chemicals, so the national and state governments are pushing natural farming. Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan says that the government will help natural farming by giving farmers subsidies. In order to make up for it, the government will send farmers money every month for three years. There will also be certification of green farming. Today, many state governments offer subsidies to farmers on important farming supplies like indigenous cows as part of a number of programs meant to encourage them to farm naturally. This time, the Himachal government is putting its attention on natural farming. The Himachal Pradesh government is running the "Prakritik Kheti Khushal Kisan Yojana" to encourage natural farming in the state. This program gives farmers who do natural farming discounts on cycle plows and other farming tools and machines. Could you tell us how farmers can use this scheme?

The first year of this plan was 2018–19.

All over the world, farmers are being told to do green farming. In 2018–19, the government of Himachal Pradesh started the "Prakritik Kheti, Khushhal Kisan" program to encourage natural farming in the state. These plans try to get people to use less chemicals and more natural materials like cow dung, cow pee, and plants that grow in the area. The main goals of this plan are to protect the environment, encourage different types of crops, and lower the cost of growing crops. The Sukhu government of the state has decided to help farmers buy cycle plows through this plan. For the first time, the Himachal government has linked the bike plow to the plan. The cost of farming will go down because farmers can plow their small areas with this cycle plow.

A gift of how much will farmers get?

A cycle plough that costs Rs. 2500 will get a maximum grant of Rs. 1500 from the state government. This means that farmers in the state can get a cycle plough for just Rs. 1000. This plan will only help farmers who have signed up for the Prakritik Kheti Khushal Kisan Yojana. Some farmers have been left out of this plan. The state government is also subsidizing farmers with up to Rs. 500 for a plastic tub, Rs. 350 for a fountain, and up to Rs. 500 for tramp solar lights for farms as part of this plan.

Make farmers more money

As part of the Prakritik Kheti, Khushal Kisan Yojana, the Himachal government is encouraging farmers to use natural fertilizers instead of chemical fertilizers on their farms. He said that Mohinder Singh Bhawani, the scheme's Deputy Director, that this is a one-of-a-kind effort by the government to help jobless and poor farmers make more money through natural farming. Himachal Pradesh is the first state in the country to give foods grown through natural farming a minimum support price (MSP). This was announced by Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu, the chief minister of Himachal Pradesh.

Plans that the government put into the scheme

As an incentive for farmers to switch to natural farming, the state government has set up the Natural Farming, Happy Farmer Scheme to offer the following funding benefits:

  • The plan offers a maximum subsidy of Rs. 2250 (Rs. 750 per drum, up to a maximum of 3 drums) per natural farming family to help them buy drums for storing the materials they use in their farming.
  • Giving each farmer family up to Rs. 8,000 to help them make the floor of the cowshed concrete and dig a pit to collect cow pee.
  • It is planned to offer a 50% discount, up to a maximum of Rs 25,000, on the purchase of a native cow of the indigenous breed. Apart from this, the farmer is also getting an extra Rs 5,000 to help with transporting the cow for natural farming.
  • As part of this plan, up to Rs. 10,000 will be given to help open natural farming resource shops in each village so that all the things needed for natural farming can be found there.
  • Farmers who want to take part in the Natural Farming, Happy Farmer Scheme can sign up on the Himachal Pradesh Government website at https://www.spnfhp.in/
  • On the website, it says that more than 76,000 natural farming farmers have signed up across the state so far. This number has been used to give badges to more than 61 thousand farmers and gardeners.
