Prabhu Narayan Singh, the Commissioner of Sugarcane and Sugar, says that breeder seed has been given to farmers so that they can start planting sugarcane in the fall. As of 2024–25, top seed sugarcane is being sent to sugarcane-growing areas based on the type of sugarcane they grow.
The commissioner said that orders have also been sent out to make sure that breeder sugarcane seeds are planted in research areas, private and cooperative sugar mill areas, and farmer areas in Shahjahanpur. These areas are run by the Uttar Pradesh Sugarcane Research Council.

Seventy-three quintals of sugarcane seeds have been sent to the Saharanpur region, fifty-sixteen quintals to Meerut, eighty-five quintals to Moradabad, eleven hundred and thirty-six quintals to Bareilly, twelve thousand quintals to Lucknow, ninety quintals to Ayodhya, four thousand twelve quintals to Devipatan, four thousand seven hundred and eighty-seven hundred and sixty- eighty quintals to Deoria.

The Commissioner talked about planting new types of sugarcane using the single-bud method. He said that 1.50 lakh sugarcane varieties of Ko.Sha. 16202 and 12.17 lakh of Ko.Sha. 17231 have been sent to the Saharanpur region, 1.80 lakh of Ko.Sha. 16202 and 11.70 lakh of Ko.Sha. 17231 have been sent to the Meerut region, 2.70 lakh of Ko.Sha. 16202 and 23.20 lakh of Ko.Sha. 17231 have been sent to the Moradabad region, 2.00 lakh of Ko.Sha. 16202 and 20.70 lakh of Ko.Sha. 17231 have been sent to the Bareilly region, and 2.00 lakh of Ko.Sha. 16202 have been sent to the Lucknow region. 19.80 lakh Co. 17231 buds have been given to the Ayodhya region, 7.50 lakh Co. 17231 buds to the Devipatan region, 3.00 lakh Co. 15466 buds to the Gorakhpur region, 3.62 lakh Co. 17231 buds, 2.00 lakh Co. 15466 buds, and 6.10 lakh Co. 17231 buds to the Deoria region. They have now been given 5 lakh buds (seeds) of Co. 15466, 10 lakh buds of Co. 16202, and 114.59 lakh buds (seeds) of Co. 17231.
On the farm, base gardens will be set up.
The Sugarcane Commissioner said that as part of the three-tier seed production program, base nurseries will be set up on farmers' fields using the elite seed sugarcane that was distributed. This will make sure that there is enough healthy, disease-free seed sugarcane for the next sugarcane planting season. Because of this, the state will be able to grow more sugarcane and sugar.

What's different about growing sugarcane in the fall and spring?
In the fall and spring, sugarcane farmers grow sugarcane. One of these is said to be more profitable to grow in the fall. Many things lead to this, including the ones below:
- It is much more productive to plant sugarcane in the fall than in the spring.
- The farmers get a good crop.
- Sugarcane grown in the fall costs a lot less than sugarcane grown in the spring.
- In the fall, sugarcane has more time to prepare, but in the spring, it only needs this much time to sprout.
- Planting sugarcane in the fall is also good for sugar plants. It also gets 0.5 units more sugar return.
- Growing intercrops in sugarcane that was planted in the fall can help farmers make extra money, but this is less likely to happen in the spring.
